SilverBack stories

With every person comes a story. We have so many stories that are waiting to be heard.

Finbarr
Finbarr

Everybody knows Finbarr O’Sullivan. On the massive Northvolt Gigafactory construction site in Skellefteå, northern Sweden, the Irishman wields real power. Literally. As an electrical supervisor with SilverBack, Finbarr is responsible for all temporary power on site and has been working on the Northvolt project since the very beginning of Phase 1 in late 2019. With the expansion Phase 2 underway, Finbarr has first-hand experience of the sheer speed of scale-up involved and how a 600 person workforce in 2020 became 4,000 workers of 100 different nationalities by 2023.

Originally from Cork, Ireland, Finbarr has been working with SilverBack in Sweden since 2016, one of our longest-serving project workers. He enjoys the culture and pace of work in Sweden and very much feels part of the SilverBack team. At the moment, he is particularly enjoying nurturing and training a small team of young, inexperienced Swedes currently under his supervision on the site at the edge of the Swedish Arctic Circle.

SilverBack client Northvolt is replicating its site build approach in Germany, Canada and Sweden over the coming years (and we know they’d like to replicate Finbarr too). Finbarr describes the plans as ‘mind-boggling’, but is excited by SilverBack’s continued role in servicing these projects, and is proud of our proven expertise in remote locations and large construction. As someone who spent this earlier career working in the oil & gas industry in various parts of the globe, Finbarr is enjoying finishing out his career in a whole new world of green technology. Here’s to the future.

Aneta

Aneta Kuźmiuk has a unique perspective on how the SilverBack business has developed over the past 10 years. Her career has tracked much of the change experienced by the SilverBack business. Having personally managed so much change, she was recently appointed Head of Sustainabilty and Innovation to drive further change to maintain SilverBack’s position as a market leader.  Aneta’s story is SilverBack’s story.

Aneta started in the SilverBack Dublin office as a junior intern in 2013. She was a fast learner and quickly acquired additional responsibilities and promotion as Administration Manager. Indeed, Aneta’s expertise on the logistics required to mobilise teams of project workers was a critical consideration in SilverBack’s next big strategic move. We wanted to scale up our support team as project numbers and size increased, and it was Aneta who moved back to her Polish homeland to set up and build our Lublin office in 2016.  Eight years later and 20-strong, the Lublin team has been a huge factor in enabling SilverBack to grow.

Of course, growth brings complexity. Aneta strongly believes a strong sustainability mind-set is integral to how SilverBack grows from here and maintains “a safe workplace for all”. Also, her focus on innovation and SilverBack’s digital transition over the next 18 months is key to delivering a positive experience for all stakeholders. That’s great news for clients, staff and colleagues who expect SilverBack in the future to grow sustainably and bring expert leadership to hugely demanding new-industry projects. No doubt, Aneta will tell that future story too.

Lesław
Lesław

As Operations Manager for SilverBack’s trades recruitment activities, Lesław is well-placed to shape and influence our operational excellence. His own story shows tremendous flexibility and a clear desire for being the very best. Today, Lesław is based in his home nation of Poland but previously spent many years in Ireland, arriving in 2006, long before SilverBack opened for business.

SilverBack first came calling for Lesław in 2015 when he was recruited from Ireland as an electrician for the NKS Hospital project in Solna, Sweden. Lesław soon emerged as a natural leader forming excellent relationships with both workers and clients. These leadership skills, combined with his technical knowledge saw him spend 3 years assigned to one of SilverBack’s key clients as an Industrial Electrical Foreman. But, as Lesław’s career grew, so did his young family’s need for him to be closer to home. Luckily for SilverBack, we were able to harness Lesław’s many skills for a new internal role within the company, based in Poland. Lesław started his internal role in 2021 as a Technical Recruiter before being promoted to the broader Operations Manager role in 2023.

Lesław’s journey with SilverBack from Ireland to Sweden to Poland has covered many kilometres, many life experiences and much progression. Lesław has seen SilverBack from many sides – the project staff member assigned to projects, the foreman considering the priorities of the client and now, the manager bringing his experiences to the way that SilverBack operates. Lesław is doing everything he can to bring that Swiss watch type precision to how our growing company operates.
