Our story

Our story

We’ve come a long way but still have a long, exciting journey ahead of us.

From our very first project in Norway in 2012, SilverBack has been refining our solution to the talent shortages that are hampering the delivery of major construction projects. In the early days, SilverBack focused on the selection and mobilisation of managed teams of construction trades workers for reinforced concrete, electrical and mechanical installation. Core to our offering, then as now, was a fully-managed service with SilverBack controlling all aspects of the delivery – the recruitment, employment compliance, mobilisation and all in-country logistical elements – to improve the customer and project staff experience.

A deep understanding of the entire Nordic region has been embedded in our business.

Evolution

The value of SilverBack’s Scandinavian market expertise is really emerging as the global economy, incentivised by climate-alarmed governments, sought to shift its industrial and transport sectors to clean energy sources. An abundance of cheap, renewable energy in Subarctic Scandinavia is a massive attraction for energy intensive activities like green steel production and battery manufacturing for EVs. This is driving an increasing number of multi-billion euro investments in new industrial facilities in our core Nordic markets.

At the height of the pandemic in 2020, SilverBack expanded our offering to include the supply of professional and technical staff to these major projects. This strategic move was driven by an ambition to move up the value chain, reduce cyclicality and position ourselves “earlier in the conversation” with project leads.

Evolution
Transformation

This expansion of our offering has enabled SilverBack to become a strategically important supply chain partner to several of these projects. It has transformed the business. SilverBack is now embedded in the battery Gigafactory construction market and are working to overcome the talent and skills shortages that are a real risk to progress. SilverBack’s project staff have already performed more than 1.5 million manhours in these cleantech, decarbonisation projects.

SilverBack is now building its presence in Germany and in other strategic markets in Northern and Central Europe. Other geographic regions are also in development and future announcements will follow.

We are giving our clients access to an international, mobile, committed candidate and worker pool to enable them to deliver these hugely demanding projects under time, budget and execution pressures.

The Future
